who always brings something bright to add to our
store read "Women in Post Offices" which averred
that American women had fully proved their ability
in this service of the Government. The following
receipt for pickle was highly commended-

"2 gallons green tomatoes sliced
12 onions chopped
2 qts. vinegar, 1 qt. brown sugar
2 tablespoons salt, 1/4 mustard
1 tablespoons blk. pepper, 2 tablespoons allspice
1 tablespoon whole cloves, Mix and stew till tender".

Ellen Farquhar contributed a sketch of "The Iron
Chancellor" which would lead to the conclusion
that Bismarck was a silent and self contained
man. We were told that sausage would keep
well if heated in the oven and sealed while hot.

Caroline H. Miller rendered two poetical selections
in a manner enjoyed by all apparently.

Martha S. Townsend's selection stated that we
could become strong and good only through personal
effort. Alice G. Stabler read Frances E.
Willard's fine thought "The lesson of Niagara"

The Association paused then to admire "Bob"
the handsome and intelligent Maine cat whose
lives are cast in pleasant places. A walk
to the well - kept garden repaid all who
entered it and numerous thrifty potted
