ROAD TRAVEL

Before touring by road in Foreign countries, it is wise to be a member of an Automobile Association who can advise and handle the documentation and transport of your car.

In many countries an International Driver's Licence is required. There are frequently laws requiring a bond to be posted, so that if you import a car for touring purposes free of duty, you may not sell it in that country but guarantee you will re-export it.

For pratical purposes when touring in a country using the metric system for liquids, 5 litres can be taken as approximately 1 gallon.

A rough rule for converting kilometres into miles is to divide by 3 and multiply the result by 2.

If touring in distant countries without regularly spaced service stations for your own automobile, it is wise to take a few more important spare parts with you.
