But neither of us had anything to
wear that was in order. But Rose
found a very reasonable dressmaker,
to make the little confection that I
brought her from Honolulu, and looks
likes a rare old portrait when dressed
It was made over muslin (which was
the daintiest & most inexpensive thing
she could have had. The waist was a
baby one - coming off at the shoulders
and a wide accordian pleated ruffle
around the neck. Straps to hold it
up on the shoulders & a sash & bow
of white satin ribbon made the
daintiest gown in the room. I had
a Mrs. Maxen remodel my cre'pe
skirt - putting in large satin puffs
in the waist instead of the diminutive
