April 25th continued
Robert Carter appears to be failing
rapidly -- was shown a bolt
in a rock by Henry Carter
which he said was the height
to which the water of G.P. Mills
was to be raised by their dam
said bolt bears from stone south
of S. O. N 86 3/4 E 4.7 per and
from large Chesnut on west margin
of Creek S 60 1/2 E 1.3 perches
The rock in which the bolt
is inserted lies in the west
margin of the Creek and
has a shattered and vexing
appearance on top -- the bolt
is of round iron about one
inch in diameter and stands
about 1/4 of an inch above the
surface of the rock -- Joseph
Miller was present

The rod or perch or pole is a surveyors tool[1] and unit of length equal to  5 1⁄2 yards, 16 1⁄2 feet,  1⁄320 of a statute mile or one-fourth of a surveyor's chain and 5.0292 meters. The rod is useful as a unit of length because whole number multiples of it can equal one acre of square measure.
