Hi Darling -

Golly, but I'm so sleepy right now, I'm liable to fall asleep while I write to you.
It's not quite 10pm - we got home here at 8:30 and it took an hour to eat a little food
and tell people about our trip, and I've just tried with little success to study my German
assignment. So I'll write to you my love, and then go right to bed to dream about you too!

Our trip to Köln was just swell - we each saw just what we had hoped to and
discovered some new things besides. Last night before dinner we visited the
cathedral briefly; we went there again this morning, sat through most of the 8 am
Palm Sunday mass (will be in Notre Dame in Paris for Easter services!). Then we went across
the river to the new Rhein Park, a huge park about a mile long and 1/4 mile wide on
the shore of the river, with vast expanses of green lawn and many gorgeous flower gardens;
the tulips and pansies (many hybrids of each) are especially in bloom, with many
other types besides. It was just a fabulous variety of color, under the sunny skies, with
the air fresh after a night's rain. We spent about 2 hours walking around, MAC
taking pictures right and left of all the flowers (my camera accidentally left behind in
Frl. Dürfel's car!). Back across the river I left MAC to climb the cathedral tower, while
I went back to the art museum for a pleasant hour of 19th and early 20th century
painting - some of the Monet, Renoir, Utrillo that I had seen before, plus Max Beckman
and Max Lieberman and many others new. Wish I had time now to read an art history
book and coordinate what I've observed some more.

From here we went straight back to the hostel, sat on the lawn for 1 1/2 hours
waiting for Frl. Dürfel to come pick us up. She got a darling 7-week-old baby dog
near Düsseldorf (the purpose of her trip) so we had its company all the way home!
It was again a beautiful trip, much of it through country like the foothills behind
Stanford where we've driven before. I drove to here from Frankfort (about 3 hours)
which is partly why I'm so tired , besides all the walking this morning.

I think I'd better collapse now darling - I love you very very deeply
and truly , with all my heart. Our love is right at the center of my being too,
gives me the reason and joy of living. My heart is all yours, honey, and you are
there to stay . I love you!
Always + forever,
Your George
