title of Rachamim bené Rachamim
"Merciful children of merciful fathers". While
treading this earth they extend support to fellow-
creatures stricken by misfortune and when taken up
to heaven their last will manifests their longing
to assuage human suffering. But though to speak
on this solemn day of mMemorial of the meritorious
deeds of my brethren in America, is a to me gratification; though to
invoke the Supreme Being for a vast commensurate reward is the prompting
of my heart, truth impels me to say that
seats of religious learning are only exceptionally
the recipients of bequests. Yet, schools and colleges are
the life-blood of our racial existence. The custodians of the
Torsh understood realized understood that perfectly well; hence the paramount importance
assigned to nurseries of Knowledge above
Synagogues. [paragraph symbol] Palestine and Babylon, studded with
academics, made it possible for Judaism to survive
a whole world's opposition. Blunted will always
be the weapons of our adversaries, so long as we
wear the armour forged shapen by our prophets and Sages -- the knowledge & preservation of Judaism, the Torah -- the understanding and Keeping of [the Torah] --
"No instrument forged shapen against thee shall succeed [.......]
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and
their due reward from Me, saith the Lord"... And it is written again ,;
"The peace of thy children taught of Tthe Lord will be great."

I have completed work on transcription of all *English-language* text seen in page 9, *but* there are Hebrew (I believe) words which I find inserted *between* lines of English-language text which are now numbered 22 and 23, 23 and 24, and 25 and 26 (near the left halves of these lines) -- which I could not (myself) readily read, and which I will not transcribe.
I hope that someone who can readily read Hebrew writing and who has experience inputting Hebrew characters in online transcriptions may complete the transcription of this page's textual contents. (I suspect that the written Hebrew is connected to the nearby quotations which Rabbi Morais has rendered in English, but I do not know that for certain (nor have I searched for the sources of the quotations myself). )
