Militia are only garrison troops and havn't done
any fighting, the A.I.F. has done all the fighting
up there. He aroused my Irish, as you call it, but I
managed to control it. A lad across the street is
in the famous 9th Division & is doing all in his
power to get out, he said others are doing it, all
you need is influence. It is a great war for
some.
I guess I should be high spirited as I am on
holidays and Mum, Stan & I are off to Coolangatta
for a week from Sunday. I mentioned in my
previous letter I may go away, we were lucky
enough to get accomodation at St. Lennoards Private
Hotel. It is on the beach front, I have an idea
it may be one of those about opposite the skating
rink. I wish my darling it was you and I
going down. It has been excellent weather this
week and it is no holiday here at home, there
is always so much to do, what I want is a quiet
week at the beach, two surfs a day & maybe I
will try my skill at roller skating. Stan will
be company.
He sat for scholarship to-day, he has to-morrow
& Saturday to go yet. He says he thinks he has
done alright.
