My Cherished Darling Wife,
I'm so sorry pet I haven't been able to write and let you know there's no need to worry over my safety. Frankly darling I do have a few worries myself but they're laughable afterwards. I sleep reasonably well - I've seldom done otherwise.
There seems a temporary delay with mail. I miss your letters terribly Nance even if it's only a few days of hopefull waiting & yarning. God knows how I'll live without them.
America says her contritution in the S.W. Pacific is only 5% of her resources and 1% of total exports. What a day it will be when the percentage increases say to 50%. I sincerely hope I'm given an area in a healthier place than this is when the hip gets rolled back. This nervous tension is wearing on the nerves, bai jove.
Last Saturday I left the compound where I had the beautiful seascape. My I was loathe to leave.
Sunday. Funny those last few lines I wrote yesterday. The balloon went up as I wrote them and I stood a good chance of losing my posessions. The reprieve came before night - and now I've returned to the old seascape. This morning you've
