My thoughtful darling Wife, Your letter of congratulations came by post this morning, you certainly timed it well pet, and it was delightfully written.
The water is tempting today but I'm not feeling well enough to go outside the house. All I am equal to, is lying in bed. In a few days I'll snap out of it I hope.
Thanks for your concern - & your prayers my darling. Fortunately beyond a few bombs & shells, mostly the latter, I've encountered little danger. Compared with the Buna show, this one was a holiday - that is, so far as my work was concerned.
I do hope my letters become a lot more regularly. I hate causing you worry. You've written 28 letters Nancy, & a telegram. I'm proud of your efforts to make me happy. You're a darling.
I'll wish with you and together we'll will my return. Over the past few weeks I've dreamed of it so much I can almost believe
