To My Loving June Bride,

Once again I have closed my tired mind to the mad haste & soul destroying atmosphere of war, to write my love, & assure you I am well & comparatively happy.

Gone are the days & nights of semi-leisure. Often I feel so tired I could sleep as I walk. Times I feel so frustrated & angry I could weep tears of blood. And now there's come an hour of peace - the first in days. I feel soothed just relaxing here & writing haphazardly. I wish time & opportunity were more favourable for daydreaming of you pet.
