My own darling wife,

I'm having a spell today. Someone sent me a few papers to read, and I've spent all morning on the bed. I expect this new move anyday or hour so I'm not busting myself.

I've two of your early July letters I've not yet replied to. Mum has only written once. It came last week. She had expected me to spend more of my leave with her. Mum's spent all her life raising us giving her no time or inclination for outside interests. Which by the way is tragic. Now it's too late for her to find any interest other than us. However two wrongs never make a right
