& faultlessly expressed her sorrow, innocent as only a native could be. I was too sick to remember much, but know her sincerity touched me deeply. I was telling Claude how much his housegirl resembled her. With a smile he said she was 'his'; That while I went to my room she gave him my history. Consequently my clothes disappeared & quickly reappeared on the clothes line, & my bed made ingeniously comfortable. I allowed her in the old days to live in our hideouts with her soldier husband & child. They don't forget decent treatment. I'd better say no more my darling, else you'll misunderstand my true & impartial sentiments.
