This base is really TREMENDOUS - it occupies 234 square miles, has facilities for 60,000 marines and is still growing! However, the climate is poor & the mosquitos are terrible + most of us would give anything to be out in the Solomons & have a little peace and quiet!

Was glad to see my boy Tom Dewey's victory in New York. If you remember I wrote a paper for you on Mr. Dewey's chance for the presidencey & he seems to have made a step in the right direction.
