I am sorry that I did not
return home in time to see you
when you kindly called. I was
not more than half an hour
away – but of course you could
not foresee that. How I want
you, of your kindness to do
something for me. Your
avuncular patriarchal relation
Sir W. Macarthur lent to me a
volume containing the Report of the
trial of Col. Johnston in England
in 1811. By the help of it and
many other papers I succeeded I
think in putting before the public
a trustworthy narrative of the
doings of your great grandfather & others
