I wont go into arguments about the matter,
for in doing I might offend even so old a
friend as you, but I must say that to my
mind there is nothing in favour of the
idea, and there are many things
against it. I am quite proud
at the thought that Lib agrees
with me which must be the case
if you have hitherto tried hard
and vainly, to persuade her.

I grieve for your drought:
here every body propheside a
terrible summer after our rainless
spring, and lo! great rains
came in the first week of January
&c &c and the country is carpeted
with rich pastures.

Kindest regards to you
all
Yours most sinceerely
G W Rusden
