I wrote to Phillip King some time ago
about the salt and he answered me

I would have written again to him
but as you have now 3 sons with you
it occurred to me that one of them
might know already all the country, or
if not, might ride to the reported spot
and if any one be livng near it find
out what soil and rock was extant there.

Your mention of Mr Jenkins & the
"great deal of salt" is a puzzle, but
I feel sure that if there had been a
vein 12 ft thick, more would be
known of it. I had pleasant
letters from England. The doctor
was with me today & was
greatly pleased with my
progress. With kindest regards
to yourself and all at Camden
Yours ever sincerely
