A horrible wave of heat you
have been having. Charles King
after two or three weeks of it
has had to leave Bourke, the
apparent centre of the Australian
frying pan, as regards the
inhabited districts. We on
the contrary have after continuous
drought last year, had more
rain this month than is usual
and about Melbourne and are looking
green again - I hear. Last
nights paper reported that rain
in Sydney stopped the cricket,
and I hope that you also had
rain at Camden. I quite
agree with you that the only
way to be cheerful in this
world is to rest in Christianity.

Those who do so, practically afford
from day to day what is equivalent
to a miracle - a life on earth
touched by spiritual principles
which overcome the earthy.
