My dear Mrs Onslow

Your kind and interesting
letters of last year (31 Decr) must
not remain unacknowledged
although my humdrum life
supplies me with little which
can interest you. Jamie wrote
me a note from Calcutta which
was very good of him. He told
me he was going to Lahore, and
the newspapers have told us since
of the grand Durbar there, where
I have no doubt that Jamie made
a military & gentlemanly appearance
for Australia. Could but Aladdin's
lamp waft one so far I should
like to have had a glance at the
display. But our thought can
waft us thither. With Jack & Willie
& Arthur in England, Jamie in India
and Camden on your hands, your
thoughts need to be electric.
