ill to write but kind & thoughtful as
ever he made his Comptroller write
to thank me "most warmly for my good
wishes" and to say that he had
"much pleasure in accepting the
cigar case I had been good enough
to send him". I received the
lettter on Tuesday & on that day the
telegrams foreboded the event which

i.e Thursday morning. A very
genuine grief overspread London

Edward Ogilvie had influenza here
most dangerously for several
weeks but care & nursing aided
his recovery & he is now quite well.
