AUDAX AT FIDELIS

Brisbane, 14th of June 1910

Sir,

With reference to your letter of
the 8th instant inquiring as to the
meaning of the name 'Currumbin" ,I have
the honour to report that from inquiries
made it appears that the interpretation
of the name in English is "High up" .The
aboriginals from which this information
has been procured explain that the name
originated from the fact of there being
extremely tall trees and high hills in
the vicinity of the watercourse now known
as [Currumbin Creek].

I have the honour to be

Sir

Your obedient servant

[M'Massirson?]
Pro I n s p e c t o r.

The Chief Protector of Aborginals,
Brisbane.
