25th November I9I0.

Sir,

In June last you inquired as to the meaning of the
aboriginal word " currumbin " .

I learn this now means " High up " because of there
being extremely tall trees and hills in the vicinity of
the water course now known as [Currumbin Creek].

I regret that the papers containing this information
were inadvertently filed away without your having been
informed.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your Obedient Servant,

For theChief Protector of Aboriginals.

John B. Cochrane Esq.,
Inspector General
Traffic Manager Office
Railway Department.
