Sir,

In reply to your AB09/26799 B of 6th instant, asking
for an aboriginal name for [St Helens] on the Ipswich Line,
I beg to submit for your choice the following aboriginal
names and their meanings, taken from the Bundaberg dialect,
and having in view the nature of the surrounding country
and industries:-

Niree === ... Coal
Danulla === ... Pottery works
Comboori === ... Perch ( fish)

As however there is now no aboriginal camp or country at
this place it being apparently a growing village of workers in
the surroundings industries it would,I think, be better
to choose a name more in keeping with the character and nat-
ionality of the residents, who doubtless if consulted
could among themselves quickly decide upon a suitable and
original name.

I have the honour to be
Sir,
Your Obedient Servant

Pro Chief Protector of Aboriginals.
