Sir,

In reply to your letter 11. 1294 of 12th instant, I
would advise that the Superintendent of the [Barambah] Abor-
iginal Settlement gives the meaning of the word "Manoo" as
similar to Yamberderie in the Karnooloo dialect which means
a strait, a gap, a outting or a clear straight track.
