The Catacombs, Rome.

We are indebted to Dr. J. Warren White for the piece of skull which came from one of the catacombs of Rome. We also have two small candles which were used by a tourist in visiting the catacombs of Saint Sebastian.

The catacombs were the burial places of the early Christians. They the Christians underground for great distances. The passageways are narrow with places cut for tombs on each side and occasionally a space the size of a room for a chapel. The catacombs of Rome are said to have contained 6,000,000 tombs.

St. Peter and St. Paul were said to have been first buried in the catacombs of San Sebastiano.
