SEKRETARIAT: STRADA BURSEI 5

Timişoara, [dashed underline]: 20th December 1930.

Dr. George W. Quick, President
Rotary Club of Greenville,
[underlined]: Greenville
South Carolina. U.S.A.
640 N.Main.

Dear Rotarian Quick,

Our president Baltescu, some days ago, trans-
mitted to me your estimated letter of 13.November. With great pleasure
we should comply with your wishes and send you a Roumanian stone of
our city which is not one of the new foundation but has a very stirring
retrospective time. - When the Turks dominated here and the great
battles were fighted and when Prince Eugen of Savoya came in this
town and put order on the Balkan, all these events had their monuments
and their edifices. But the actual Roumanian government will not
allow to touch on this historical reminiscences.

Next we shall- after Christmas- make
a visit to the Mayer of Timişoara/ who is - nevermind - a Lord Mayor/
and I shall show him your letter and the nice little photograph.Per-
haps he will allow to cut a stone from the palace where Prince Eugen
was residing for many years. Then we shall try - when the mayor will
open is Roumanian heart - to find a carrying agent who can transmit
this crumb to South Carolina.

With the best wishes for a merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year to you and your Rotarians,

I am Rotarily yours,
[signature, illegible]

/Alexander Frankl,Secretary/
