Czechoslavakia.

Bohemia, Moravia, Slovakia, Ruthenia, compose Czechoslovakia and is
known to most of us and the land of John Hus, the Protestant reformer, who
was burned at the stake.

It is also a land which appeals to the freedom-loving American boy.
In 1526, the Czechs by popular choise invited the Hapsburgs to the Bo-
hemian throne under pledges to respect the ancient privileges and lib-
erties. By perseculation, confiscation, and oppression, Austria tried to
stamp our the language, and crush the spirit of the Czechs.

After the world war, Czechoslovakia was once [handwritten, inserted with a carat]: more given its freedom.

The Czechs are a great people.

We have two rocks from this new country. One from the great mon-
ument to General Stefanik which was sent by the Rotary Club of Bratis-
lava together with a beautifully illustrated book descriptive of this
wonderful tomb of this great lover of freedom. Be sure to read the two
letters from Czech[handwritten]:oslovakia.
