Ft. Worth, Texas, October 20th, 1904.

TO THE HONORABLE MAYOR and CITY COUNCIL:
FORT WORTH, TEXAS.

Gentlemen:-

You will remember that last Fall I appeared before you ask-
ing a refund of taxes to the amount of $938, which I -as guardian of
the Estates of Ineze and Johnnie Hanna, minors,- had through an error
paid into the City Treasury, on the personal property of said minors,
not subject to taxes of the city. After a thorough investigation
of the matter you agreed that the amount named in my application was
wrongfully paid and that it should be returned. In order to make
the return of this money fall as easily on the city as possible I a-
greed to accept $441.00 of the amount in cash, less a 10% discount, and
$249.50 in the form of a cancellation of the city taxes on the property
of said Estate for the year 1903, with a tacit understanding that
the balance of $248.50 should be settled by the camcellation of the tax
receipts on the property of the estate for the year 1904. I was
given to understand that the Council of 1903 could not bind the Council
of 1904. So, I now respectfully ask -with a view of carrying out
the letter and spirit of the adjustment made with me last year, that
you pass a resolution instructing the City Secretary to issue a war-
rant to me for the sum of $245.00 with which to discharge the City
taxes against the property of the Hanna Estate for the year 1904, thus
fully completing the settlement and cancelling all claim which you
acknowledged and partially discharged last year.

Yours respectfully,

SM Furman
Guardian Estate
Ineze & Johnnie
Hanna

Now Ineze Hanna Rosington
Johnnie Hanna Roger.

We your Finance Committee
recommend that a warrant for the
sum of $245.00 be issued as above
covering the taxes against the Hanna Estate
for the year 1904.
