To the Honorable City Council of the City of Fort Worth.

Gentlemen:

With reference to the attached statement of the taxes of A. W. Key,
I would respectfully state to the Council that I have taken up this matter
with Mr. Smith who is trustee for Assignee for the estate of A.W. Key
and I find that the goods of the said Key which were sold realized a
very small amount of money and the said assignee is unwilling to pay the
taxes of the said Key in full which amount to about $75.00, but he is
willing to pay the amount of the taxes as stated in the accompanying
statement.

Inview of the fact that litigation would almost certainly result
and in view of the fact that there are grave doubts as to whether or not
the assignee could be compelled to pay any taxes except those set forth
in the attached statement, I therefore recommend to the Council that
they accept the sum of $42.13,which I am informed is about one-third of
the whole estate, in full payment of the taxes due.
