by said Resolution, and any balance of said $60.00 increase in the regular term rental rate for each occupant of said Existing Dormitories not needed to meet the requirements of said Section 501 shall be set aside in a separate fund or account for use in the purchase of furnishings and movable equipment for any existing or future dormitory at the Greensboro campus.

Real Estate Transactions

President Friday then presented the following resolutions pertaining to real estate, and requested their adoption:

1. Right-of-Way to State Highway Commission for proposed road improvements.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The North Carolina State Highway Commission proposes improvements in Wake County Secondary Road 1650 which road adjoins and crosses the properties of North Carolina State of the University of North Carolina at Raleigh, and is known as the Reedy Creek Road; and

WHEREAS, the proposed improvements will require additional right-of-way to the North Carolina State Highway Commission from the University for the purposes of improvements and will affect only 2.63 acres of land, more or less, consisting of a narrow strip adjacent to the present road right-of-way; and

WHEREAS, the improvements proposed to be made to Wake County Secondary Road 1650 will benefit the University as it will result in a paved road through this portion of our lands, and therefore there will be no consideration paid for this right-of-way.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that North Carolina State of the University of North Carolina allocate, without cost, to the N. C. State Highway Commission right-of-way of 2.63 acres of land adjoining the University properties on Reedy Creek Road, back of the State Fairgrounds, for the purpose of improving Secondary Road 1650.

On motion of Mr. Wicker, seconded by Mr. Pearsall, the foregoing resolution was unanimously adopted.

2. Right-of-Way to Federal Government for underground drainage system at North Carolina State

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Naval and Marine Corp Reserve Training Center, located on Western Boulevard at Dan Allen Drive, adjoins the properties of North Carolina State of the University of North Carolina at Raleigh, and the drainage waters from this facility have been eroding the lands of the University; and

WHEREAS, the University requests that the Navy Department have installed an underground drainage system in order to stop the soil erosion to the University property adjoining this Center on Western Boulevard, and in order to comply with the request of the University, it will be necessary to run the underground drainage line across the University property south of the Naval Reserve Training Center; and

WHEREAS, this will be beneficial to the University in that the Fraternity Housing Project located southwest of the Naval Reserve Training Center will be connected on to this drainage system on the University property, and this will be installed at no cost to the University.
