Committee to Nominate a Chancellor for the University at Chapel Hill

Mr. Medford, Chairman of the Committee to Nominate a Chancellor for the University at Chapel Hill, made a brief oral report. He stated that they had tentatively set a target date of May 1 to recommend at least three names to President Friday, but that they may not be able to fill that date.

Honor to Mr. Roy Rowe

Mr. Victor S. Bryant read the following resolution and moved that it be adopted:

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA IN ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THE OUTSTANDING SERVICES OF HONORABLE ROY ROWE, PRESIDENT OF THE ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNING BOARDS OF UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES

There has recently come to one of our trustees an honor which I believe the Board will wish to recognize formally. We would want to take notice of any honor to one of our number; but I think it is especially important in this instance because it has come to him in consequence of his work as a trustee of the University, and it therefore reflects credit upon this Board and the University of North Carolina as well as himself personally.

Many of us are aware from notices in the press or otherwise that Roy Rowe is the President of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges. He was elected more than a year ago and formally installed in office at the annual meeting at Pennsylvania State University in October. The Association of Governing Boards is a national organization with which are affiliated some two hundred and fifty-nine colleges and universities governmed by eighty-four boards in forty-seven of the fifty states. It has been in existence since 1922, and a number of trustees of the University have attended its meetings from time to time.
