The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina met in regular session in the Conference Room of Holladay Hall on the campus of North Carolina State of the University of North Carolina at Raleigh, at 10:30 o'clock, A. M. , Friday, November 8, 1963, with the following members present: Mr. Noble, Mr. Maynard, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Bryant, Mrs. Lathrop, Mr. Hill, Judge Mintz, and Mrs. Burgwyn. Arch T. Allen, Secretary.

Also present were: President Friday, Vice President Anderson, Business Officer and Treasurer Shepard, Secretary Weaver, Chancellors Aycock and Caldwell.

The following members were absent: Messrs. Umstead, Barber, Pearsall and Wicker. Chancellor Singletary was absent on University business.

In the absence of Governor Sanford, Mrs. Lathrop was elected to act as Chairman.

Chancellors' Reports

President Friday called on the Chancellors for their reports in the following order:

Chancellor Aycock presented the following report and recommendations which were unanimously approved:

Appointments

Jack Newton Behrman, as Professor, School of Business Administration, with salary of $15,000 beginning January 1, 1964. Born Waco, Texas, 1922. Married. Three children. Education: B.S. 1943, Davidson College; M. A. 1945, University of North Carolina; 1950 and Ph. D. 1952, Princeton University. Experience: Assistant Professor 1946-48 Davidson; Instructor 1949-50, Princeton; Associate Professor 1952-57 Washington and Lee; Professor 1957-61 University of Delaware. Interviewed by: Dr. Berhman was a former University student and is well-known here.

Maxwell Lamar Harrison, as Associate Professor, School of Dentistry, with salary of $10,000, beginning January 1, 1964. Born, Cottonwood, Alabama 1929. Married. Four children. Education: B.S. 1945 Auburn University; D.D.S. 1951, Emory University. Experience: Instructor and Head, Audio Visual Aids 1951-1952, Emory University; Research Associate 1963, University of North Carolina. General Practice, Dothan, Alabama 1952-63. Interviewed by: Dr. Harrison is well-known as a staff member here.
