"I don't think the resolution goes far enough to suit me. I would like to have the Board of Trustees go on record as advocating repeal of this legislation. At the same time, I would want the Legislature to understand that this Board of Trustees believes it has the talent and the capability of protecting North Carolina and the United States. In fact, it not only has the talent and ability but it is working day in and day out to further Americanism.

"I don't believe Mr. Moore is correct in thinking that this is going to be interpreted as any pro-Communist action on our part. It may be that we have a few misguided enemies somewhere in this State who will try to misinterpret the actions of this Board. What we need to do today, I think, is to let everybody know - the administration, the faculties, the students and the people of North Carolina - that this Board of Trustees is going to guide this University and that we are capable of doing it in the best interests of all the people."

Messrs. Ferebee, Riddle and Yarborough also spoke in favor of the resolution.

The resolution was put to a vote and it was unanimously adopted.

Enrollment

President Friday reported that enrollment on the three campuses has reached the 22,075 mark.

Report of Admissions Advisory Committee

Mr. W. Lunsford Crew, Chairman of the Committee on Admissions, made the following report which was unanimously approved:

"The Admissions Advisory Committee of the Board of Trustees met in Chapel Hill on October 10 to examine the results of the fall semester enrollment on the three campuses of the University and to consider any implications for the admissions policy. Owing, no doubt, to a slight but unavoidable tardiness on my part in reaching the meeting, I found that I was elected Chairman and so it is that I bring this report to you today.

"perhaps it would be helpful for me to remind you at this time of the names of the other members of the Admissions Advisory Committee.

They are:
Mr. Graham Bell
Dr. Jesse B. Caldwell
Mr. William B. Harrison
Mr. Thomas H. Leath
Mr. D. L. McMichael
Dr. Francis A Buchanan
Dr. Dorothy Norman Glenn
Mr. W. A. Johnson
Mr. Thomas M. McKnight
Mr. R. G. Stovall
Mr. Cameron Weeks
