The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University met in Special Session in the Conference Room of the Consolidated University Office Building in Chapel Hill at 4:00 o'clock, P. M. , Friday, October 18, 1963, with the following members present: Mrs. Lathrop, Mrs. Burgwyn, Messrs. Umstead, Bryant, Pearsall, Hill, Taylor, Mintz, Maynard, Barber and Wicker; Billie Curtis, Assistant Secretary.

Mr. Yarborough, Chairman of the Visiting Committee was present. Also present were: President Friday, Vice President Anderson, Secretary Weaver, Chancellors Aycock, Caldwell and Singletary.

In the absence of Governor Sanford, Mr. Bryant was elected to act as chairman.

The meeting was called to order and President Friday was recognized.

President Friday referred to the "Speaker Ban Law" and informed the Committee of the several meetings held by the Administration with members of the Board of Trustees and alumni at various places in the State concerning the law.

After a lengthy discussion, it was the consensus of the Committee that a resolution should be prepared for submission and recommendation to the Board of Trustees for its meeting on October 28.

A Steering Committee composed of Messrs. Bryant, Barber and Hill was appointed to work with the members of the full Board in presenting the resolution.

The meeting adjourned at 6:40 P. M.
