is effective. When authorized and directed by the Chancellor, the parking permit so issued shall contain an appropriate letter designation which will entitle the holder thereof to park in certain designated parking spaces, parking lots, or parking areas on the campus of the University.

Section 5. The staff parking permit shall be affixed to and displayed on the windshield of the motor vehicle for which it is issued within fortyeight (48) hours from the time of issuance thereof.

Section 6. The staff member to whom a staff parking permit is issued as herein provided shall be responsible for all parking violations of the vehicle for which the parking permit is issued.

Section 7. In the event that any student of the University can clearly demonstrate the need for special parking privileges to the satisfaction of the appropriate administrative officer designated by the Chancellor, because of physical incapacity, special services rendered to the University, or because of other circumstances which make it reasonably necessary for a student to have special parking privileges, such officer is hereby authorized to issue to such student a staff parking permit as herein provided. In cases where staff parking permits are issued to students pursuant to the provisions of this section, such students must also comply with and such students are subject to all the provisions of Article III of these regulations, except that a staff parking permit shall be issued to such students in addition to the student parking permit prescribed in Article III.

ARTICLE III. STUDENT REGISTRATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES

Section 1. Any student attending the University (other than the spouse or child of a staff member) who is eligible under University regulations to own or operate one or more vehicles in or around Greensboro may, at the discretion of the Chancellor, be required to register every such vehicle with the administrative officer designated by the Chancellor.

Section 2. For motor vehicles required to be registered, registration shall be accomplished as an integral part of University registration at the beginning of the fall semester of each year, or, in the event that a student first registers in the University at some time other than the beginning of the fall semester, then at that time when the student first registers in the University and at the beginning of the fall semester of each year thereafter.

Section 3. In the event that a motor vehicle which is required to be registered is not owned or operated in or around Greensboro by a student at the time prescribed in the preceding section for the registration of motor vehicles, but is thereafter acquired and is thereafter owned or operated in or around Greensboro by a student, such motor vehicle shall be registered as herein provided within forty-eight (48) hours after its acquisition.

Section 4. Upon application by the student owner or operator of a motor vehicle and upon payment of a parking privilege fee not in excess of $5.00 established by the authority of the Chancellor for each vehicle to be registered, the administrative officer registering the vehicle shall issue a serially numbered parking permit for each motor vehicle to be registered, indicating the academic year for which the parking permit is effective. When authorized and directed by the Chancellor, the parking permit so issued shall contain an appropriate letter designation which will entitle the holder thereof to park in certain designated parking spaces, parking lots, or parking areas on the campus of the University.

Section 5. The parking permit shall be affixed to and displayed on the windshield of the motor vehicle for which it is issued within twenty-four (24) hours from the time of issuance thereof.

Section 6. The student to whom the parking permit is issued as herein provided shall be responsible for all parking violations of the vehicle for which the parking permit is issued.

Section 7. The University Business Manager shall be responsible for the enforcement of the provisions of this article.
