Continuation of Service

Continuation of service for one year is requested for the following who have reached age 65: Dr. Julia Heinlein, Associate Professor Emeritus of Psychology, as Vocational Counselor for the academic year 1963-64.

On motion made and duly seconded the above report and recommendations on behalf of the University at Greensboro were unanimously approved. President Friday presented the following items and requested their approval:

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INCREASE OF STUDENT FEES AT THE UNIVERSITY IN GREENSBORO

WHEREAS, the 1963 General Assembly approved the enlargement of Rosenthal Gymnasium Building and the swimming pool therein at a total cost of $225,000; and

WHEREAS, Ihe University of North Carolina at Greensboro has on hand for this purpose the amount of $50,000 appropriated by the 1957 General Assembly plus gift funds of $15, 000; and

WHEREAS, the 1963 General Assembly appropriated $80,000 toward the cost of the project but stipulated that the University at Greensboro should supply the remaining cost of $80,000 through self-liquidation; and

WHEREAS, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is applying to the Finance Committee of the University Board of Trustees for a loan from the Escheats Fund of the University of $80,000 to comply with the self-liquidation requirement imposed by the 1963 General Assembly, such loan to be repaid in not more than seven years and to bear interest at the rate of four (4%) percent per annum; and

WHEREAS, the repayment of this Escheats Fund loan under the stipulations above recited will require an increase in student fees of $4.00 per student for the academic year and $1.00 per student for the six-weeks summer school term; and

WHEREAS, the Chancellor and the Business Manager of the University at Greensboro, and the President and Business Officer and Treasurer of the University of North Carolina have joined in recommending that student fees be increased in the stated amounts, the proceeds from the increase to be applied to repayment of the Escheats Fund loan;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina, contingent upon approval by the Finance Committee of the Board of the proposed loan from the Escheats Fund in the principal amount of $80,000 for not more than seven years at four percent per annum, authorizes an increase
