R. Darrell Bock, Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, is recommended for a leave of absence, without salary, for Spring Semester 1964 in order to accept a Visiting Professorship at the University of Chicago.

Continuation of Leave of Absence

John Ehle, Associate Professor in the Department of Radio, Television, and Motion Pictures, is recommended for a continuation of his leave of absence through August 31, 1965, without salary, in order that he may continue in his capacity as Special Assistant to the Governor.

Cancellation of Leave of Absence

Victor A. Greulach, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Botany, was granted a Kenan leave for the Spring Semester 1964. He now requests cancellation of the leave.

Retirement

Norman Cordon of the Bureau of Community Adult Education, Extension Division, has elected to retire at age sixty. He will retire from the University on January 31, 1964.

Resignations

Lucie Jessner, Professor, School of Medicine, resigned August 31, 1963, in order to accept a similar post at Georgetown University.

Ernest Queener Campbell, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology-Anthropology, resigned August 31, 1963, in order to accept the Chairmanship of a department at Vanderbilt University.

Carol Suzanne Lowry, Assistant Professor, School of Nursing, resigned August 31, 1963, to marry and change place of residence.

William A. Lund, Assistant Professor, Institute of Fisheries Research, resigned June 30, 1963, in order to accept a similar post at the University of Connecticut.

Gilbert L. Kelso, Associate Professor, School of Public Health, resigned August 31, 1963, in order to accept a position with the Communicable Disease Center in Atlanta.

David Franklin Freeman, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, resigned August 31, 1963, to go into private practice.

Douglas Denton Hale, Assistant Professor, Department of History, resigned August 31, 1963, to accept a position at Oklahoma State University, in order to return to his home region.

Fluoridation

Chancellor Aycock reported that the litigation concerning fluoridation of water has been settled, and unless another innunction is instituted, the University at Chapel Hill proposes to go ahead with the installation of fluoridation equipment.

The University at Raleigh

Chancellor Caldwell presented the following report and recommendations on behalf of North Carolina State at Raleigh.

Appointments:

Joe Senter Chappell, as Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics, School of Agriculture, at annual salary of $9,000 from Station and State funds for twelve months, effective August 1, 1963. Born 1931, Fuquay Springs, North Carolina. Married.
