WHEREAS, the General Assembly of North Carolina in 1963 has failed to provide additional dormitory space by direct appropriation; and

WHEREAS, the increased enrollment at the College indicates urgent need for additional dormitory space, and the General Assembly having tacitly approved again the policy of one hundred percent (100%) self-liquidating dormitories, it is the College's purpose to immediately apply to the Housing and Home Finance Agency for a loan for the construction of an additional dormitory to house approximately 800 men students; and

WHEREAS, in order to support such a loan application it is deemed necessary to again increase student room rent charges by the sum of thirty dollars ($30.00 per man per year, thus bringing the annual room rent charge to Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) per man;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of The University of North Carolina that the State College unit be and it is hereby authorized to increase annual student room rent charges on all dormitories to Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) per year, effective September 1, 1963.

Increase in General Fees at State College

The following resolution authorizing increase in general fees at State College was adopted:

WHEREAS, the General Fee charged students by North Carolina State is a component of several fees formerly listed separately, including a "registration fee" of $5.00; and

WHEREAS, budgetary provisions for the Division of Student Affairs are insufficient to support the handling of student registration and records; and

WHEREAS, it is recommended by the University Administration that the General fee be increased by $2.00, the additional funds so derived to be placed in support of the student registration and records function;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees hereby authorizes an increase in the General Fee of North Carolina State College from $33.00 to $35.00, the additional receipts to be used to defray costs of handling student registration and records.

Increase in room rentals at the University in Chapel Hill

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING INCREASE IN ROOM RENT FOR MEN AND WOMEN STUDENTS LIVING IN DORMITORIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL

WHEREAS, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill must increase its dormitory capacity in order to meet the demands of students desiring to enroll in the institution; and

WHEREAS, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University authorized the University administration on January 14, 1963 to apply for a loan of $2,544,000 to construct a new dormitory to house approximately 925 men students, and additional money is needed to help finance this dormitory, and

WHEREAS, the costs of operating and maintaining dormitories has increased since the last room rental rate was set in 1958 by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the administration of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hereby authorized
