NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the lease agreement entered into on March 22, 1954, by and between the University of North Carolina, lessor, and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, lessee, be terminated as of August 1, 1963, with the understanding that certain crops planted by the Wildlife Resources Commission may be harvested by the Wildlife Resources Commission during the months of October and November, 1963, unless the continued use of the planted land after August 1, 1963, should interfere with the proper use of the land by the University for its own purposes.

2. Demolition of Old Power Plant Buildings

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the growth of the physical plant of the University made it necessary in 1938 to construct a new power and heating plant on Cameron Avenue approximately one-half mile from the campus, and also caused the construction of a new general storeroom and shop building in 1962 on a portion of the property willed to the University by Professor Horace Williams about one mile from the campus on the Orange Church Road; and

WHEREAS, the old buildings formerly utilized by the facilities mentioned should now be removed in order to arrange for the proper landscaping of the area and the construction of an underground utilities distribution center for the entire campus;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the buildings known as the Old Power Plant (later used as a general storeroom) and the old Buildings Department (shop, storage, and offices) be demolished, and that the University administration be and hereby is authorized to recommend to the Department of Administration of the State of North Carolina that this demolition be done as expediently as possible.

On motion made and duly seconded, the resolution authorizing termination of lease between the University and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, and the resolution authorizing demolition of old buildings, were unanimously adopted.

Letter to Mrs. Parker, former member of the Executive Committee

On motion of Mrs. Lathrop, seconded by Mr. Maynard, the Secretary was instructed to write a letter of appreciation to Mrs. Parker.

Expressions of gratitude were extended to Mr. J. G. Vann, who was attending his last meeting of the Executive Committee as Business Manager of State College. Mr. Vann will be retiring in July.

Change of Date for Regular Executive Committee Meetings
