Donald B. Hayman, Instructor and Assistant Director, Institute of Government, is recommended for a leave of absence, September 1, 1963 to June 15, 1964, without salary, in order to accept an appointment as Visiting Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Kansas.

Extension of Leave of Absence

Lowell DeWitt Ashby, Professor, School of Business Administration is recommended for an extension of his leave of absence to September 1, 1964, in order to continue his work with the United States Department of Commerce.

John M. Ehle, Associate Professor, Department of Radio, Television and Motion Pictures, is recommended for an extension of his leave of absence to September 1, 1964, to continue his work in the office of the Governor.

Don Lee Allan, Assistant Professor, School of Dentistry, is recommended for an extension of his leave of absence to September 1, 1964, to complete work on an advanced degree.

Retirements

Millard Sheridan Breckenridge, Professor, School of Law, retires June 1, 1963.

Arthur Palmer Hudson, Kenan Professor, Department of English, retires July 1, 1963.

Resignations

Rashi Fein, Associate Professor, School of Business Administration, resigned April 12, 1963, while on leave as a member of the President's Council of Economic Advisors, in order to continue in this capacity.

Robin D. S. Higham, Assistant Professor, Department of History, resigns as of July 1, 1963, to accept an Associate Professorship at Kansas State University.

Edward William Noland, Kenan Professor, Department of Sociology-Anthropology, resigns as of July 1, 1963, to accept an appointment as Professor and Department Head at Purdue University.

On motion of Mr. Hill, duly seconded, the above report and recommendations of Chancellor Aycock were unanimously approved.

State College

Chancellor Caldwell presented the following report and recommendations on behalf of State College and they were approved:

Edmund Pendleton Dandridge, Jr., as Associate Professor of English, School of General Studies at an annual salary of $9,500 from College funds for nine months, effective September 1, 1963. This is a replacement for Mr. Joseph D. Clark. Born 1915, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Married. Two children. Education: A.B. 1937 Kenyon College; M.A. 1946 University of Michigan; Ph.D. 1959, University of Virginia. Experience: Teacher of English and French, coach of tennis and gymnastics, Woodberry Forest School, Orange, Virginia 1937-41; U.S. Navy 1941-46; Teaching Fellow, University of Michigan 1946-47; Acting Assistant Professor English, Lynchburg College, Virginia 1950-51; Instructor, University of Michigan 1951-59; Assistant Professor of English, College of Engineering, University of Michigan, 1959-63.
