The two degrees in genetics recommended for the University at Chapel Hill utilize the resources of several departments where research and advanced study in this field are now being offered. The proposed degree program is therefore inter-disciplinary in character and represents the cooperation of several departments in the training of doctorate students in this important field. The courses and research activity in genetics at Chapel Hill complement the programs now offered at Raleigh in that emphasis is placed on human and biochemical aspects of genetics rather than the statistical and quantitative genetics that are strongly developed at Raleigh.

Mr. Hill moved that the above recommendations for new degree programs be approved. Mrs. Parker seconded the motion and it was approved.

President Friday also presented the following matters and requested their approval:

1. University at Chapel Hill - Sale of Student Apartment Revenue Bonds

A resolution entitled: "RESOLUTION DIRECTING PUBLICATION OF NOTICE OF SALE OF $1,000,000 UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA STUDENT APARTMENT REVENUE BONDS OF 1962, SERIES A", was introduced, and Mr. Bryant moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Mr. Barber and the resolution was adopted by all members present voting for its adoption; those voting "Nay": None. The Chairman thereupon declared said resolution unanimously adopted, and the Secretary was instructed to record it in the minutes of the Board. The said resolution is in the following words and figures, to-wit:

RESOLUTION DIRECTING PUBLICATION OF NOTICE OF SALE OF $1,000,000 UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA STUDENT APARTMENT REVENUE BONDS OF 1962, SERIES A.

WHEREAS, Section 205 of the resolution, as amended, adopted by the Board of Trustees of The University of North Carolina entitled:

"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIRTEEN STUDENT APARTMENT BUILDINGS, WITH APPURTENANT FACILITIES, AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA, IN CHAPEL HILL; AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $1,000,000 UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA STUDENT APARTMENT REVENUE BONDS OF 1962, SERIES A, OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA TO PROVIDE FUNDS, WITH OTHER AVAILABLE FUNDS, FOR PAYING THE COST THEREOF, AND $1,942,000 UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA STUDENT APARTMENT REVENUE BONDS OF 1962, SERIES B, OF SAID BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE PURPOSE OF REFUNDING A LIKE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA STUDENT APARTMENTS REVENUE BONDS, SERIES 1958, OF SAID BOARD OF TRUSTEES; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF SAID BONDS AND THE INTEREST THEREON FROM REVENUES; AND SETTING FORTH THE RIGHTS AND REMEDIES OF THE HOLDERS OF SAID BONDS",
