University of North Carolina is one single university. Consequently, there was another reason for considering the name at State College. The President, who was a member of that Commission, very properly took the position that this was a question for critical consideration by the University, and that it should not be the object of consideration and decision by a commission which was studying all state-supported institutions of higher learning. He suggested that the matter be left to the Board of Trustees, as he had suggested that the question of expansion of the University to other campuses be left to the Board of Trustees.

"There is no secret, of course, about the fact that there has been quite a bit of discussion, and I am afraid, some misunderstanding about several aspects of the name question: First, where the proposal for a change originated and what the name should be. He did so. He consulted with these groups collectively and individually, and we were very happy that he was able to report to the Committee one week ago
oday that the Board of Directors of State College Alumni Association, with all present but one (those present including the Chairman of the Board and the President of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association) voted unanimously in support of a resolution suggesting three names, any
