(2) Extramural Sources - a wide variety of agencies for studies, surveys, and consultations peculiar to the field of nursing.

Intramural work includes the basic teaching function and that added direction, consultation, supervision, and administration required for projects for which funds for salary are customarily available and forthcoming. When such added funds are provided, they may be placed in a trust fund or account, to be set up by the University similar to those of the private practice clinics, or paid directly to the persons rendering the services from the grant account as a portion of salary. Extramural work shall not be in conflict with the interests of the University or in any way detrimental to the professional status of the faculty member, the School of Nursing, or the University. Before such extramural work may be undertaken, it must have the written approval of the department head and the Dean of the School of Nursing.

The President of the University is authorized to establish allowable ceilings on total salary of members of the faculty of the School of Nursing which arise from State appropriated funds, from income from professional services and activities, provided that in no case shall the total salary exceed $22,000. Pursuant to that authority, the members of the faculty of the School of Nursing shall be paid salaries within the following ranges:

Professor $9,000 - $22,000
Associate Professor 7,800 - 18,000
Assistant Professor 6,600 - 15,600
Instructor 5,400 - 13,200

Except for faculty positions with major administrative responsibilities, other than departmental chairmanships, that portion of a faculty member's salary for teaching, research, or service which may be paid from State appropriated University funds shall not exceed the following limits:

Professor $15,000
Associate Professor 12,500
Assistant Professor 9,500
Instructor 7,500
