1. Payment of malpractice insurance for House Staff.

2. Payment of temporary state medical licensure for House Officers without permanent licenses.

3. Payment of travel expenses of selected House Officers to important regional or national medical meetings pertinent to their professional development.

4. Payment of Blue Cross hospitalization insurance premium for all House Officers and their immediate dependents.

5. Purchase of recreational equipment for the House Staff not otherwise available from other sources.

6. Awarding of special fellowships to deserving young physicians.

7. Payment of funds for support of research by House Officers.

8. Payment in whole or in part of necessary expenses and honoraria to special speakers, guest lecturers or other medical programs requested by the House Officers Association.

9. Payment in whole or in part of basic salaries or salary increases to members of the Intern and Resident Staff under circumstances which may warrant such a procedure in the judgment of the Chiefs of the Clinical Services, the Hospital Director and the Dean of the School of Medicine.

Method of Handling Expenditures.

The Hospital Administrator shall be responsible for keeping the Policy Committee informed of the financial status of the Residents' Fund. Requests for expenditures shall originate with the chairman of the Policy Committee and be presented in writing on regular University requisition forms to the Hospital Administrator. Emergency requests are to be discouraged, but could be approved by agreement between the chairman of the Policy Committee and the Hospital Administrator.

Travel requests should be supported by state travel authorization forms to obtain tax exemption status and compensation protection. The established University regulations governing travel will apply.

For obvious reasons, this Fund cannot be permitted to be overdrawn and should there be more requests than covering funds, the Policy Committee shall determine the order of approval.

Section 2-8 Nursing Education in the Hospital

The Director of Nursing Service of the Hospital shall be a joint appointment of the Director of the Hospital and the Dean of the School of Nursing and shall hold a faculty appointment in the School of Nursing. She shall be responsible to the Dean of the School of Nursing for educational functions and to the Director of the Hospital for nursing service functions.

The choice of educational experiences for student nurses in the Hospital shall be determined by the School of Nursing. The policies for implementation of the educational program of student nurses in the Hospital, including the amount and method of remuneration, shall be jointly agreed upon by the Dean of the School of Nursing and the Dean of the School of Medicine, subject to the approval of the Administrator.

Section 2-9 School of Dentistry - Policies for Conduct of Intra- and Extra-mural Service by Full-time Staff of the School of Dentistry.

A primary responsibility of the faculty is to provide instruction for students. The faculty of the School of Dentistry will also be called upon to care for patients able to pay for this care. There will be a demand for other professional services, including sponsored research and training for which there will be compensation. The income received from such
