The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina met in regular session in the Senate Chamber of the State Capitol Building, Raleigh, at 10:30 A.M., on Monday, January 14, 1963, Governor Terry Sanford presiding, Arch T. Allen, Secretary. The following members were present: Mrs. Lathrop, Mrs. Parker, Messrs. Pearsall, Maynard, Hill, Noble, Bryant, Umstead, Barber, Taylor and Wicker.

The Chairman recognized President Friday who introduced Dr. Leslie Malpass, an administrative intern at the University from the University of South Florida.

Chancellors' Reports

President Friday called on the chancellors for their reports and recommendations and they were presented in the following order:

Chancellor Aycock for the University at Chapel Hill

Reappointment

Geraldine Gourley, Associate Professor in the School of Public Health from 1953-56, is recommended for reappointment as Associate Professor, School of Public Health, beginning February 1, 1963, with salary of $9,500. She has been with the Federal Government and located in Texas, with the New Mexico Department of Public Health from 1956 to the present.

Promotions

Campbell White McMillan, Clinical Instructor, School of Medicine, is recommended for promotion to Assistant Professor, beginning January 15, 1963, with salary of $12,500.

Katherine Buckley Nuckolls, Instructor, School of Nursing, is recommended for promotion to Assistant Professor, beginning January 1, 1963, with increase in salary from $6400 to $6700.

Leaves of Absence

Fletcher M. Green, Kenan Professor, Department of History, is recommended for a Kenan leave of absence, with salary, for the Spring semester 1964, in order to complete a publication in his field.

E. Maynard Adams, Professor, Department of Philosophy, is recommended for a Kenan leave of absence, with salary, for the Fall semester 1963, in order to complete a publication in his field.

Victor A. Greulach, Professor, Department of Botany, is recommended for a Kenan leave of absence, with salary, for the Spring semester 1964, for research and study in British laboratories.

Wayne A. Bowers, Professor, Department of Physics, is recommended for a leave of absence, with one-half salary, for one year beginning September 1, 1963, in order that he may accept a National Science Foundation Fellowship to pursue research at Cambridge University.
