The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina met in regular session in the office of the Governor, Raleigh, North Carolina, at 10:00 o'clock A. M., on Monday, November 12, 1962, Governor Terry Sanford presiding, Billie Curtis, Assistant Secretary.

The following members were present: Mrs. Parker, Mrs. Lathrop, Messrs. Taylor, Hill, Pearsall, Umstead, Maynard, Noble, Barber, Mintz and Bryant. Also present were: President Friday, Vice President Anderson, Mr. Shepard, Business Officer and Treasurer, Mr. Weaver, Secretary of the University, and Chancellors Aycock and Singletary.

Minutes: The minutes of the last meeting were approved without reading, copies having been mailed to each member.

Chancellors' Reports

University at Chapel Hill

Chancellor Aycock presented the report and recommendations for the University at Chapel Hill as follows:

Appointments:

George Stanley Baroff, as Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, with salary of $11, 500 from trust funds, beginning January 10, 1963. Born New York 1924; married; two children. Education: B.S. 1948, M.A. 1950, George Washington University; Ph.D. 1955, New York University. Experience: Senior Research Scientist 1952-59, Department of Medical Genetics, New York State Psychiatric Institute; Research Associate in Psychiatry, 1955-, Columbia University; Chief clinical Psychologist 1959-, Vineland Training School, New Jersey. Interviewed by: Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and by the Chairman of Psychology Department and his faculty.

Donald William Warren, as Assistant Professor, School of Dentistry, with salary of $14,000 ($4,738 of which is from trust funds), plus 100% allowable supplement on state portion of salary, beginning July 1, 1963. Born in Brooklyn, New York 1935; married; two children. Education: B.S. 1956, D.D.S. 1959, University of North Carolina; M.S. 1961, University of Pennsylvania. Experience: Post-Doctoral Fellow 1959-61, Lancaster (Pa.) Cleft Palate Clinic; Post-Doctoral Fellow 1961-, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Interviewed by: Dr. Warren is well-known as a former student here.

Wallace Arthur Dynes, as Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology-Anthropology, with salary of $6,500 beginning September 1, 1962. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 1930; married; two children. Education: B.A. 1952, M.A. 1954, Florida State University; Ph.D. 1962, University of Washington. Experience: Pre-Doctoral Associate and Acting Instructor 1958-62, University of Washington. Interviewed by: Associates of the Chairman of the Department and Dr. Dynes has been here on interim appointment for two months.
