A woman who applied for admission
on Sunday and that I sent to Mrs Cowper
for an order left his morning saying
she must go early or she should lose
the opportunity of securing all her clothes.
I find Mrs Cowper had not told her to
return here, and so she insisted upon
getting out before the Ladies of the
Committee arrived.
Ladies Sub Committee.
Mary Jane Maugham and Fanny Chapman
have left the Institution. Annie Mulholland
has been talking to the Inmates over the
wall of the Good Shepherd, the Ladies
directed Miss Holland to go next door
and tell the Sisters that Annie was
on a ladder in their garden speaking
to our women, the Sisters replied that
such conduct was quite against rules
and they would see that such a thing
should not happen again. The Ladies
spoke to Charlotte about her conduct to
Harriet She was very much excited and
angry, this evening she has expressed
her sorrow to me for behaving so rudely
and begs to be allowed to see the
Ladies on Friday to apologize to them.
I fear she is still determined to go out.
Ann Kesley saw the Ladies about her
pawn tickets, they explained to her that
the Inmates were expected to work proper
hours, and have given me instructions to
see that they begin work earlier in the
morning, and not to allow any time for
