September 18th
Friday. Eliza Lane is greatly improved in
behaviour since her readmission. we trust that
she has at last [underscored] seen the folly of

Saturday 19th.
I went to the Central Market 1/2 past 6 oclk
with the messenger, bought the weekly
supply of vegetables 3/8, they are getting cheaper.

Sabbath 20th.
Revd. W. Mills preached 11 oclk and
Mr.L.Crawford 3 oclk - in the evening
the inmates read every other verse 5th Chapt. St. Mathew with the Matron. we sang that beautifull beautiful] hymn
"Jesus lover of my soul" and prayed, all the inmates,
were attentive and orderly.

Monday 21st.
poor Eliza Ash is very ill. the tears
were chasing each other down her cheek,
whilst she expressed her regret that she "could not work".
I told her we did not expect her too when so ill, and said I would send
for the doctor. and advised her to go to bed.
Mr. Moore curator of the Botanical gardens sent
a quantity of plants and a gardener to plant
them.
Mrs Goodlet sent 8 dozen Oranges. for which
the girls were very thankfull [thankful].
