ordered medicine for Julia Gibson.
her cough is so bad.

14th Teusday [tuesday]
Sub com't 4 ladies present
Kate Smith was dismissed by the ladies, as
they considered her a subject for the Benevolent Asylum
she being a married woman - and had every appearance of
being near her confinement.

Wednesday 15th
About 9 oclk this morn'g Kate Smith, called and
said she had been to Rev'd T Smiths and that Mr. Smith
told her to come back again to the Refuge? as she had
no where to go. she beg'd so earnestly that I said I would go
with her, to Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Goodlet. as I had no power
myself to take her, since the ladies dismissed her yesterday,
and whilst I went for my bonnet, a messenger came from
the 'Good Shepherd' and claimed a woollen jacket which she
had on. and although she allowed it to be taken from her
she presisted [persisted] in saying it was her own - in a little while the same messenger came to tell that they "missed a pair of Stockings" "that Revd. Mother had great trouble with her. she was the wife of a Dr. [Lance?], that she had 4 beautifull [beautiful] children, but she is a drunkard"

Thursday 16th
at 7 oclk this morning Kate Barry asked to
be readmitted, "had left home because
father and mother were drinking again" had
come all the way from Mudgee. I took in
the poor wanderer, knowing, as I did that she
was a perfect stranger in Sydney without home,
money or freinds [friends]
