Teusday [tuesday] 23rd
Sub com't met. 4 ladies present.
In the evening [sup]^inmates[sup] were employed sewing,
whilst I read to them. They were very tired
after the days washing. I allowed 4 of those who had
their hands soft and sewlled to sit and listen, without
giving them any work. They were all very quiet and
attentive.

Wednesday 24th
This beautifull [beautiful] weather enables us
to make up for lost time (during the
rain) when we had hundreds of sheets and
towels washed and [underlined] no means [underlined] of drying.
We are in great need of a Drying room.
The gross of Clothes pegs, granted yesterday were
all put in use, and I had to give pens in addition.
Poor Eliza Ash is very ill, she asked if she "might go
to bed, her shoulder ached so," through the severe
coughing, when I ask [asked] her if there was anything
I could do for her, she said no thank you, I had a nice
cup of tea and I ^[sup]am[sup] very gratefull [grateful]. then I gave her the bed room key then went to sit with the inmates
in the eve'g and read whilst they sewed.
