May 25th
Monday.
All the inmates had a half holliday [holiday]
Mrs. Wm Speer gave them apple pies for dinner
Fruit, and have very large plumb [plum] cakes.
When I told them that Mrs. Speer had given all
Agnes OBrian said "God Bless her."
They enjoyed their treat very much.

Teusday [tuesday] 26th
Sent a note to Panama office stating that
the linen is ready.
Sub Com't met. 4 ladies present, two
applicants received and one refused admission
because she was drunk. one of those received
(Mary Shirlock) was ordered to bed by the ladies, as soon
as she had her bath.

Wednesday 27th
Three officers and the Stewardess of the
S. S "Kiakowra" came 9 oclk to count
the linen. It was taken away 2 oclk.
We shall now have a little time to sew untill [until] the
next steamer comes in.

Thursday 28th
The Hon H. Parkes called to ask if
Kate Barry went willingly away with her
parents? I asked if he would walk round the
institution said he had no time. he enquired about
the garden. I told him we missed Lady Young's visits to it.

Friday 29th
General Com't Gentlemen 4 present.
